9/7/2019: Weekend Traffic Advisory

Construction of concrete deck placements will occur in the Eastbound direction of the Newark Bay - Hudson County Extension (NB-HCE) starting on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 5:00 AM, and lasting until Monday, September 9, 2019, 5:00 AM. Over this period, the Eastbound roadway will be reduced to one lane, and the Columbus Drive Off-Ramp will be closed.

It is anticipated that traffic impacts will be moderate to severe during peak travel periods, typically 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM Saturday and Sunday.

Variable message signs to alert motorists of the construction will be placed along the Eastbound Roadway one week in advance of the planned construction start date.  

Motorists can call 511 from any phone from a hands-free device (Listen for the initial voice prompt and ask for traffic conditions. Description of New Traffic Pattern:  Construction of concrete deck placements will occur in the Eastbound direction of the Newark Bay - Hudson County Extension (NB-HCE) starting on Saturday, 9/7/2019 at 5:00 AM, and lasting until Monday, 9/9/2019, 5:00 AM. Over this period, the Eastbound roadway will be reduced to one lane, and the Columbus Drive Off-Ramp will be closed.

Proposed Start Date of New Traffic Pattern:  The new traffic pattern is scheduled to be installed Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 5:00 AM, and be in place until Monday, September 9, 2019 at 5:00 AM.

Anticipated Traffic Impacts:  It is anticipated that traffic impacts will be moderate to severe during peak travel periods, typically 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM Saturday and Sunday.

Other Comments:  NJTA will advise motorists by Highway Advisory Radio and Overhead Variable Message Signs at Newark Bay - Hudson County Extension Mileposts N1.1 and N4.4.  Coordination with TRANSCOM, PANYNJ, local jurisdictions, and NJDOT is ongoing.
