6/14/2019: Weekend Traffic Advisory

Construction will occur in the Eastbound direction of the Newark Bay - Hudson County Extension (NB-HCE) starting on 6/14/2019 and lasting until 6/17/2019. Over this period, the Eastbound roadway will be reduced to one lane, and toll lanes 1-3 at the 14C toll plaza will be closed.

It is anticipated that traffic impacts will be moderate to severe during peak travel periods, typically 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM Saturday and Sunday.

Variable message signs to alert motorists of the construction will be placed along the Eastbound Roadway one week in advance of the planned construction start date.  

Motorists can call 511 from any phone from a hands-free device (Listen for the initial voice prompt and ask for traffic conditions. Project:  New Jersey Turnpike Contract T100.321. Rehabilitation of Structure Nos. N6.49, N6.80E and N6.80W, Milepost N5.80 to N8.20

Route/Direction/MP:  New Jersey Turnpike Newark Bay-Hudson County Extension (NB-HCE)/ I-78 Eastbound / Westbound - Milepost N5.10 to N7.30 in Jersey City, NJ

Nature of work:  Construction at the NB-HCE 14C toll plaza.

Description of New Traffic Pattern:  Construction will occur in the Eastbound direction of the Newark Bay - Hudson County Extension (NB-HCE) starting on 6/14/2019 and lasting until 6/17/2019. Proposed Start Date of New Traffic Pattern:  The new traffic pattern is scheduled to be installed Friday, June 14, 2019 at 8:00PM, and be in place until Monday, June 17, 2019 at 5:00AM.

Anticipated Traffic Impacts:  It is anticipated that traffic impacts will be moderate to severe during peak travel periods, typically 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM Saturday and Sunday.

Other Comments:  NJTA will advise motorists by Highway Advisory Radio and Overhead Variable Message Signs at Newark Bay - Hudson County Extension Mileposts N1.1 and N4.4.  Coordination with TRANSCOM, PANYNJ, local jurisdictions, and NJDOT is ongoing.
