3/15/2019: Weekend Traffic Advisory

Construction will occur to set the new precast median barrier between the HWE (EB) & HEW (WB) roadways just to the West of the Newark Bay - Hudson County Extension (NB-HCE) 14C toll plaza. Construction will start on 3/15/2019 and last until 3/17/2019. Over this period, the following will be closed:

  • Left lane of the Eastbound (HWE) roadway approaching the 14C toll plaza, along with toll lanes 5-7.

  • Toll lanes 8 and 9 along the Westbound (HEW) roadway at the 14C toll plaza.

It is anticipated that traffic impacts will be moderate to severe during peak weekend travel periods, specifically 9:00AM - 9:00PM on Saturday. 

Variable message signs to alert motorists of the construction will be placed along the Eastbound Roadway at Mileposts N4.7 and N5.9 one week in advance of the planned construction start date.  

Motorists can call 511 from any phone from a hands-free device (Listen for the initial voice prompt and ask for traffic conditions. 1/14/2019: Traffic Advisory

Emergency pothole repairs will occur in the Eastbound direction of the Newark Bay - Hudson County Extension (NB-HCE) from Milepost N5.1 to Milepost N7.3 (over Christopher Columbus Dr.) on the Eastbound roadway starting on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 8:00 PM and lasting until Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 5:00 AM. Over this period, the Eastbound roadway will be reduced to one lane (normal configuration is two lanes) and the Columbus Drive Off-Ramp will be closed. Motorists trying to exit at the Columbus Drive Off-Ramp will be detoured to Marin Boulevard.
