12/1/2018: Weekend Traffic Advisory

A stage of bridge deck reconstruction and miscellaneous improvements will occur in the Eastbound direction of the Newark Bay - Hudson County Extension (NB-HCE) from Milepost N5.1 to Milepost N7.3 (over Christopher Columbus Dr.) on the Eastbound roadway starting on 11/30/2018 and lasting until 12/3/2018. Over this period, the Eastbound roadway will be reduced to one lane (normal configuration is two lanes) and the Columbus Drive Off-Ramp will be closed. Motorists trying to exit at the Columbus Drive Off-Ramp will be detoured to Marin Boulevard. On-site wrecker service will be provided.

It is anticipated that traffic impacts will be moderate to severe during peak weekend travel periods, specifically 9:00AM - 9:00PM on Saturday and Sunday.

Variable message signs to alert motorists of the construction will be placed along the Eastbound Roadway at Mileposts N4.7 and N5.9 one week in advance of the planned construction start date.

Motorists can call 511 from any phone from a hands-free device (Listen for the initial voice prompt and ask for traffic conditions. Motorists can ask for a specific Highway, City, or even a point of interest).  Information regarding this project is posted on our web site site at http://www.njta.com/our-projects/new-jersey-turnpike.  Residents of Jersey City / Hudson County can monitor traffic conditions by accessing Turnpike webcams at http://www.njta.com/travel-resources/camera-list, and http://www.511nj.org/cameras.aspx.  Motorists can also download the SafeTrip App for the latest traffic Advisories.
